![]() It's 1985, and the Cold War is just beginning its final thaw, even as tensions between East and West remain high. Set between the events of The Hunt for Red October and Cardinal of the Kremlin, Cameron's Red Winter takes place in prime Cold War territory. ![]() Until now, that is, with Marc Cameron taking readers back into the Cold War career of Ryan with last December's Red Winter. And, except in 2002's Red Rabbit, that's where Clancy and his continuation novelists have left the character. Yet, just as Clancy was firmly establishing himself at the top of bestseller lists, the Cold War ended, sending the author to seek new threats for Ryan to face on a journey that took him to the Oval Office. In the mid-late 1980s, Tom Clancy rose through the bestseller charts with his Cold War thrillers featuring CIA analyst Jack Ryan. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the first time I’ve read an Adrienne Young book and I do really like her writing style. Now that’s the kind of stuff I can get into. I loved that a lot of the second book also unraveled Fable’s family history. Namesake had way less of this and way more thrilling adventures. The first book was a good introduction to the Fantasy pirate world and the characters but I’m not big on the overly obsessive crushes and romances YA fiction often has. I liked Namesake so much more than Fable. When I saw the sequel fit together with the first book I decided I had to have it. I’m a sucker for all things redheads and this cover spoke to me. I have to be honest when I say I only bought Fable #1 because the cover was too beautiful to not own and #2 everyone on my Instagram was buzzing about it. ![]() ![]() Five Stars for Namesake by Adrienne Young! ![]() ![]() The story progresses rapidly, taking a jarring turn when Henry is forced to leave his family and moves to his master’s son’s tobacco factory instead.
